Subject: Winning for Verizon with Hurley Engineering
Hello All,
I have a story to tell you. On Friday (4/20/2018 @ 5:00 pm) I received a call from one of our Verizon Partners with an emergency. At first, I had no clue what he was talking about. After a bit of clarification, I was able to establish that a critical system had a spray pump failure. I immediately started making phone calls. I was able to get in touch with both Matt Humphrey and Eric Sundby. I gathered as much information as we had on this failed pump. The next phone call was to Devin Carle with Hurley Engineering. I sent the information we had to Devin and he got busy looking for a solution to the failed pump. He called me back and said they had the parts to assemble a pump for us from stock in their Portland warehouse. He called his people and asked them to get the pump put together. He then jumped in his SUV and drove to Portland fighting the Friday traffic. He got back to Seattle at 3:00 am Saturday morning. I was to meet Corey Rasmussen that morning to pick up the pump. Thinking the pump would fit in the back seat of my Honda Accord, I went to Tacoma to meet Corey early Saturday morning. Turns out, the pump was about 600 pounds! Corey then followed me up to the service building thinking I could get a truck and have someone load the pump up for me. Guess what?!?! No one working over the weekend at our service building. From there, Corey followed me over to the shop on Norfolk, again nobody working. I told Corey I would rent a truck and meet him back in Tacoma. Corey insisted that I not rent a truck, but he would just meet me at the Verizon Redmond Switch location with the pump.
Corey and I met Matt Humphrey and Steven Adams at the site around 12:00 pm. Guess what, the factory gave us the wrong information on the pump. It didn’t fit by a long shot. Thinking the day was wasted and we failed with this emergency request from Verizon, I decided to try again next week. Corey said, “Not so fast Brad” Let me make a couple of calls. He asked us to pull the pump and let him take it with him. Corey called me 30 minutes later saying he would meet me at his shop in Tacoma with the new motor and rebuilt pump head.
I made arrangements to meet Matt Humphrey and Seven Adams on Sunday morning. We installed the pump and it worked perfectly!
Lehi Alo, a project manager with Verizon wireless was expecting a temporary fix for the weekend with the permanent replacement coming sometime later in the week. With Help from Hurley Engineering, we were able to provide the permanent repair that weekend saving the customer about $10,000.00.
MacDonald-Miller could not have been the hero for this customer without the stellar service from another MMFS Partner, Hurley Engineering! I cannot give enough gold stars to Devin and Corey for all the help with this emergency! I highly recommend using them if you ever have a need. Please see below for their contact information. Have a great week!
Again Thanks to our partners!
